🏆 Projekty Open Source

Apache HugeGraph — kontrybutor (rozproszona baza grafowa, Apache Software Foundation)

PR: github.com/apache/hugegraph | Lab: github.com/SebastianGruza/hugegraph-validation | 6 PR w master

We własnym labie reprodukuję błędy HugeGraph na prawdziwym klastrze, diagnozuję przyczynę, piszę poprawkę, mierzę przed/po i wysyłam ją upstream. Całość (reproducery, raporty, patche) dokumentuję w repozytorium walidacyjnym.

Zmergowane do apache/hugegraph master (wrzesień 2026):

W review: typ danych DECIMAL (BigDecimal) w serwerze i toolchainie, endpoint GET /readiness świadomy storage'u.

Lab walidacyjny (hugegraph-validation):

  • • Tryb oracle: te same zapytania REST i Gremlin na HStore (PD + 3 store'y) i embedded RocksDB, porównanie zbiorów id; 174 przypadki, zero ręcznie utrzymywanych oczekiwań

Technologie: Java, Apache HugeGraph (HStore, PD, RocksDB), Gremlin, REST, Python, Bash, k3s, Helm

TspSolver — memetyczny solver TSP na GPU (Python + Numba CUDA)

GitHub: github.com/SebastianGruza/TspSolver | Research-grade / powtarzalne wyniki

Kluczowe wyniki:

  • ✅ Kaggle Santa 2018 — Prime Paths (197 769 miast): 1 526 256 od zera, bez LKH; 0,94% od szczytu leaderboardu
  • ✅ TSPLIB: 41 instancji (52–9 882 miast), mediana 0,198% od optimum; 16 instancji ≤ 0,1%, 35 ≤ 1%, najgorsza 1,89%
  • ✅ Lepszy od poprzedniej wersji solvera (Java + Aparapi, 2025) na każdej instancji, np. gr9882: 1,01% vs 3,57%

Architektura:

🏆 Open Source Projects

Apache HugeGraph — Contributor (distributed graph database, Apache Software Foundation)

PRs: github.com/apache/hugegraph | Lab: github.com/SebastianGruza/hugegraph-validation | 6 PRs merged to master

In my own lab I reproduce HugeGraph bugs on a real cluster, find the root cause, write the fix, measure before/after and send it upstream. Everything (reproducers, reports, patches) is documented in the validation repository.

Merged to apache/hugegraph master (September 2026):

  • #3184 HStore: sort-key prefix/range queries crashed the store-side decoder; sysprop-only range queries are no longer pushed down
  • #3204 store-client: a stalled store held REST workers for minutes; commit retries now honour interrupts
  • #3207 paging returned the page-boundary record twice when the limit was a multiple of 500 (RocksDB and HStore)
  • #3210 server waits for the stores at startup instead of exiting on a cluster cold start
  • #3216 usePD=true broke on JVMs with a decimal-comma locale
  • #3220 a server upgraded from 1.7.0 with usePD=true read an empty schema; the meta cluster name is now bound before any graph opens

Under review: DECIMAL (BigDecimal) property data type across server and toolchain, storage-aware GET /readiness endpoint.

Validation lab (hugegraph-validation):

  • • Oracle mode: the same REST and Gremlin queries run on HStore (PD + 3 stores) and embedded RocksDB, compared as id sets; 174 cases, zero hand-maintained expectations
  • • Real failures: 3 VMs running bare processes plus a 3-node k3s cluster running the Helm chart: pod kills, full disk, OOM limits, rolling upgrades under load
  • • Every finding = reproducer + measurement: script, logs and before/after numbers for each fix; tests counted by upstream CI

Technologies: Java, Apache HugeGraph (HStore, PD, RocksDB), Gremlin, REST, Python, Bash, k3s, Helm

TspSolver — GPU Memetic TSP Solver (Python + Numba CUDA)

GitHub: github.com/SebastianGruza/TspSolver | Research-grade / Reproducible

A from-scratch Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) solver for a single RTX 3090 (Numba/CUDA), built during a 7-day autonomous AI agent experiment (21–27 Sep 2026), with a human in the loop for direction and the "operator's eye" on tour pictures.

Key Results:

  • ✅ Kaggle Santa 2018 — Prime Paths (197,769 cities): 1,526,256 from scratch, without LKH; 0.94% from the top of the leaderboard
  • ✅ TSPLIB: 41 instances (52–9,882 cities), median gap 0.198% to the optimum; 16 within 0.1%, 35 within 1%, worst 1.89%
  • ✅ Beats the previous solver version (Java + Aparapi, 2025) on every instance, e.g. gr9882: 1.01% vs 3.57%

Architecture:

  • • Population mode (n ≤ 5000): GPU memetic algorithm — islands, OX crossover, colonies with migration, tabu; polished with an LK/or-opt chain
  • • Fragments mode (large instances): Lin–Kernighan chain, Or-opt, 2-opt, ILS with double-bridge kicks, per-CUDA-block mini-ILS in shared memory, uncross
  • • Process: every hypothesis measured by a "gate" (10 min × 3 seeds, median), a configuration bandit for night runs, a journal entry every 12 h

🚀 Availability

  • Work mode: 100% remote ✅ or hybrid in Warsaw (at most 2 days a week on site)
  • Right to work: EU ✅
  • Currently: running GruzaLab Software (B2B); employment at Lukka ended in September 2026
  • Contract type: B2B contract ✅

🎯 Why I'm a Great Fit for Graph Database Engineer Role

✅ Strong Neo4j Foundation + Quick Ramp-Up (2016-2019)

For 3 years I was a founding engineer of Neo4j-based blockchain analytics platform:

  • Designed and implemented "Proximity" algorithm (graph-based risk propagation)
  • Expert-level Cypher (in 2016-2019): Writing and optimizing queries for graphs with millions of nodes
  • Graph Data Modeling: Designing schemas for performance and scalability
  • Performance Tuning: Indexes, schema design, query optimization

Note: Neo4j has certainly evolved since 2019 - I plan to use the 3-month notice period to refresh and update my knowledge (new features, best practices, current versions). Solid foundations (graph theory, Cypher, data modeling) remain unchanged.
